What’s more socialist than the U.S. Army?  I mean this with all due respect to the military.  I was a member of the U.S. Army and I received an honorable discharge from my service.  And it was honorable to be released in such a fashion, but…

Who’s more socialist in America today than the U.S. Army?  Everyone in the Army works directly and solely for the government.  When you enter basic training, you are made to memorize and recite the chain of command; which starts with military commanders and then moves into political commanders after the Joint Chief of Staff.

If socialism is the government running many businesses and employing the PEOPLE; then, again, who is more socialist than the U.S. Army?  When I was on base there was a Burger King, only one Burger King and no McDonalds.  There was no Taco Bell on base.  There wasn’t any other form of fast food.  In fact, I remember no other businesses on base you might find off base.  There were PX’s (post exchange) to buy stuff at like a Circle K or Seven Eleven, but there were no Circle K’s or Seven Eleven’s because the government somehow ran the PX.

Food is delivered to the PEOPLE in uniform by the government through a mess hall system.  Clothing is delivered to the PEOPLE by the government when you serve in the Army.  The PEOPLE in service are paid directly by the government.  What’s more socialist than that?  It is certainly not communist because we had the Burger King on base, but outside of that one private business everything else was owned by the government, including the PEOPLE in uniform.

So now we come to throwing around the label SOCIALIST.  Obama’s a socialist because he doesn’t want to privatize Medicare.  You’re a socialist if you defend Social Security.  I’m probably a socialist for bringing any of this up and getting worked up about it.  And that is quite an evil thing, right?  It’s a label (term) thrown about to shut down arguments, as if, there is no acceptable comeback which might wash away the stain of being a SOCIALIST.

In true Orwellian fashion, socialist has undergone a transformation to where now we don’t recognize what the term really means when we see it.  The socialist is the person out there who is saying we need more military involvement around the world.  The more Americans in uniform means more Americans being paid directly by the government.  The more boots on the ground in some other country means more Americans answer directly to the political chain of command in this country. 

Socialism in America today is embodied in the U.S. military and the fine PEOPLE who are willing to serve.  But before we go off thinking the PEOPLE all serve because their hearts swell with pride, we must remember many PEOPLE serve for a steady paycheck.  A paycheck delivered by the United States Government.  The government pays for food, clothing, shelter and a monthly stipend.  Socialism in America today is unrecognizable until you realize that those who push for more U.S. military around the world are pressing for more socialism in the U.S. today. 

The military is many things in America today.  It is a proud tradition.  It is a place to exercise camaraderie and develop a true esprit de corps.  The U.S. Army is Hooah and full of PEOPLE proud to growl such a guttural battle cry together as brothers and sisters in arms.  The U.S. military is a socialist society though in every sense of the word.  For those who would push for more military presence, they in fact are pushing for more socialism in the U.S. today.  Recognition shouldn’t necessarily mean stopping, but rather, a moment of reflection might occur in which such a proud and noble unit as the U.S. Army might be recognized structurally for what it is.
