March 1st Birthdays

(1841) Blanche Bruce- The first black guy to serve a full term in the United States Senate was a Republican.

(1904) Glenn Miller- Big band music doesn't get the love that it should.

(1910) David Niven- I loved his work in  The Pink Panther.

(1914) Ralph Ellison- Invisible Man is brilliant.

I am an invisible man.  No, I am not a spook like those who haunted Edgar Allen Poe; nor am I one of your Hollywood-movie ectoplasms.  I am a man of substance, of flesh and bone, fiber and liquids—and I might even be said to possess a mind.  I am invisible, understand, simply because people refuse to see me.  Like the bodiless heads you see sometimes in circus sideshows, it is as though I have been surrounded by mirrors of hard, distorting glass.  When they approached me they see only my surroundings, themselves , or figments of their imagination—indeed, everything and anything except me.
                                                                                                                               (P. 1, Invisible Man)

(1914) Harry Caray- I'm not a baseball fan, but I like what Will Ferrell did with him.

(1944) Roger Daltry- He made some great music.

(1954) Ron Howard- Opie Cunningham is prolific!  He's been involved in: The Twilight Zone, Many Loves of Dobie Gillis, M.A.S.H, American Graffiti, Night Shift, Arrested Development, Backdraft, Parenthood and Splash.  That's a crazy resume!

(1954) Catherine Bach- She's on this list for her work in the Dukes of Hazard.

(1965) Booker T- Now can you dig that sucka?
