Quote Frank Miller at NSC Meeting according to Bob Woodward

From Plan of Attack (2004):

"Those who ran Saddam's Iraq cannot work for us and cannot run the future free Iraq..." Frank Miller

Woodward goes on to explain, "U.S. intelligence estimated that there were about 25,000 top people from the Baath Party, and Miller said all should be removed from government posts and other positions of power and influence."

The lesson here is get rid of the people you don't want before building your democracy.  The United States has 200 years of history demonstrating the difficulties of becoming recognized after initial exclusion.

After 200 years of control, life is what it is!

(A partial list of those who were eventually recognized includes: women, blacks, landless and natives.)
