Taboo Plaza

I hadn't really thought about this much until I started getting my ass kicked three weeks deep into a environmental concern research project.  Apparently people aren't comfortable addressing the environmental concern of over population.
There aren't many studies out there about how people feel about overpopulation.  How do you feel?  Do you feel that the government should ever intervene in order to control
population at a level that is safer for the country?  We're killing people in other countries on the precept that we are first protecting ourselves by killing people in other countries.
It is not
a far leap to say that President W should institute a law saying that couples (man and woman, of course) can only have two children.
If people have too many children our security will be compromised.
How can every American expect to have a cheeseburger when there's too many mouths and not enough
cows to slaughter?  With other precepts like go forth and multiply, we very well could consume every bit of space on this planet if given the opportunity.
Like a virus.
Like a cancer.
It's a different worldview than most- I would suppose- but maybe the human race isn't anymore
destined for good things than cancer in a living body.  Maybe humans will simply kill the host and die along with it.
Maybe a meteor will take care of us first.
I'm not trying to be pessimistic, but rather trying to bring other perspectives into the
conversation.  We can't agree as a race of beings on why we're here, so I assume that means the topic is still up for discussion.  Quite frankly, most of what I've been told my entire life sounds as if it is being regurgitated from a forgetful mind.
The level of passion commonly delivered when preaching the meaning, compares adequately with
carnival barkers or game show hosts.
Live with passion.
Gain experience and then come back to share with the rest of us.

The Unromantic Love Poem

I dig you.
I enjoy being with you
more than the alternative.
I don't see myself not wanting to be with you.

I love you mostly unconditionally.
In fact so much so that I don't think of the love.
Mostly unconditional

Don't fuck someone else
without discussing it first.
Don't steal from me.
Don't lie to me.

We're a group.
A unit.
A dyad.
We're a pair
and we're together.

I dig you.
For everything you are
and a lot for what you are not.
We're together
and I don't want to see that end.

Getting to Know Your Government

This week's sample of Senators were Jeff Sessions and Jay Rockefeller.  Sessions doesn't really
seem to draw much internet attention.  Rockefeller, on the other hand, it's almost as if he could buy all the publicity he wants.

Senator Jeff Sessions (Republican, Alabama) speaking about veteran's legislation he's endorsing.

Sessions, a senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, says the bill, S 2400, would “fix a serious loophole in the law that has prevented some of our wounded warriors from Iraq and Afghanistan receiving their full enlistment bonuses when they are discharged as a result of wounds they receive in combat.”

Senator Jeff Session's attitude about using $1.25 million federal taxpayer dollars for building one of the largest parks in the United States in Birmingham, Alabama.

"It is certainly my preference and it's better government if matters come in through the normal
committee process," Sessions said. "Overall we felt like this would be a great addition to the whole community and ... the community was already stepping up with a great deal of investment themselves, so I think it's a legitimate project."

Senator Jay Rockefeller (Democrat, West Virginia) commenting about Joseph Biden's desire to start a special investigation of the CIA and White House connection to interrogation and destruction of evidence:
``I don't think there's a need for a special counsel, and I don't think there's a need for a special commission,'' Rockefeller, a West Virginia Democrat, said today on CBS's ``Face the Nation'' program. ``It is the job of the intelligence committee to do that.''

Senator Rockefeller's views on children and television watching:

“Kids start watching television at 10 now.”

Senator Rockefeller's take on the state of mine strikes:
“It just disappeared,” he said. “You don’t have to be constantly at war with somebody. But you do if you’re not around the table. Then your press release has to be 12 percent stronger than their press release on their statements. It was an extraordinary thing to see them solve problems at the face of the mine. They didn’t leave until they had them solved.”

Tip of the week

Always move forward with your eyes steady in front of you.  There's always going to be an asshole around trying to distract you.

Belly Laugh

Bob Newhart is a very funny man.

I think education would go a long way in the population "problem" and not just sex education. If you tell someone NO, they usually want to know why. Also, does that mean that the government is going to force the people who have no children to have two anyway? Because that is the LAW, LOL
