Scaring the hell out of Americans

It's interesting to me how things happen today in the United States of America.  In the last week or
two, we've had two strings of thought sprout in the media and government virtually from nowhere.
The first topic to spring up was Iraq.  Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that no one talked about
Iraq before the last two weeks but Bush really started hard selling how well Iraq is going.

Almost
like he's somehow personally profiting from what's going on over there.

The second topic to sprout is Osama bin Laden.  Oh no, Osama.  Osama's going to speak and we should be scared of Osama.  He's the devil.  The interesting thing about these two trains of thought is that they are occurring right at the time that General David Petraeus is getting ready to deliver his assessment of the U.S. Invasion of Iraq.

"Most Americans think this week's report from Army Gen. David H. Petraeus will exaggerate progress
in Iraq, and few expect it to result in a major shift in President Bush's policy."
 http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/09/08/AR2007090801777.html?hpid=topnews

What more favorable propaganda could be distributed to best enhance the public's acceptance of
imperial public policy?  The Nazi's knew that if you scared your citizenry; you can do whatever you
want.  They killed Jews.  I'm not exactly sure what we're doing, although a lot of Middle Easterners are dying while we try to figure it out.

To the apparent success of our system of government, checks and balances appear to disrupt official
government representative relations enough to apparently prevent anything resembling an intelligent, devious, united front capable of destroying all freedom from our society through social policy.

President Bush's Homeland Security Adviser Fran Townsend believes Osama bin Laden is virtually
powerless. "This is a man on the run in a cave who is virtually impotent other than his ability to
get these messages out."  Townsend continues, "Based on our experience, we have never seen bin Laden use a tape to trigger any operational activity."

If I were a conspiracy theorist, I might notate how scary things always seem to happen when the Bush
administration needs to sell the American people something big.  If I were a conspiracy theorist, I might point out that Bush has been trying to delay Congress on any type of decision with regard to the Iraq War until September when David Petraeus debriefs Congress on the progress.  If I were a nutty conspiracy theorist I wouldn't have the LA Times to back me up.

"WASHINGTON — Since spring, President Bush has publicly staked the future of his troop buildup
strategy in Iraq on a series of briefings that an Army commander will deliver to Congress today and
Tuesday — the long-awaited report by Gen. David H. Petraeus on the state of the war."
http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-usiraq10sep10,1,7111538.story?coll=la-headlines

It's just kind of interesting that Osama bin Laden suddenly becomes a topic of conversation again
right before "we" are to make up our minds about our commitment to our Invasion of Iraq in September.  The timeframe for which Bush has been delaying.

The
question to you is, will you be scared?  That current event will go unrecorded; however, that does not diminish the critical nature of that decision you and I make on a daily basis in the coming months.  I'd be willing to bet that if another major, man-made disaster happens on American soil
around this time next year, it wasn't an accident.

It's an electoral tool.

Republicans generally win when Americans are scared!

And true to form,

"WASHINGTON, Sept. 10 — Gen. David H. Petraeus, the senior American commander in Iraq, warned in
stark terms against the kind of rapid pullback favored by the Democratic majorities..."

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/09/11/washington/11policy.html?ref=world

Why must it be stark?  Because stark puts asses in the seats and sells the papers and policy.

Welcome to the Old World Order of Fear and Obedience.

Barak Obama
"MANCHESTER, N.H. —Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama on Tuesday proposed centralizing and expanding the regulation of lobbyists to reduce the influence of special interest money in Washington."
           http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2007/09/04/obama_proposes_ethics_reform_plan/

Barak Obama is getting detailed.  I said a few months back that I liked the gist of what Barak was
not saying.  He's not speaking from behind a veneer of bullshit.  He's talking about people and
ethics and integrity.  He's not speaking of those concepts in the same trite political way that generally gets meandered before the people every four years.
Now Barak is speaking though.

"We're not going to be able to change America unless we challenge this system that isn't working for
us and hasn't for a long time," he said. "Now I know some will say that we can't make this change,
that the culture of corrosive influence in politics is too sprawling to spotlight or that the
lobbyists writing our laws represent real Americans. ... That's not how I see it."
                   http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2007/09/04/obama_proposes_ethics_reform_plan/

Barak is speaking of idealism.  Ah, you silly idealist Barak.

"I am not at this point, frankly, optimistic that the president's gonna change his mind in any
significant way ... I think he's going to run the clock for the rest of his presidency. There might
be some reductions that he initiates that are symbolic, 5, 10, 15,000 troops might be drawn down,"
said Obama, a longtime war critic who favors a phased withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq. "I think
that Congress is going to have to force his hand."
                      http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2007/09/04/obama_proposes_ethics_reform_plan/

Barak speaks of change and change is desperately needed in America.  It seems at times as if we have reached a point of no return with regard to the imperial presidency and the fuck-you attitude
descending upon the American people from Washington D.C.

"Campaigning in Manchester, N.H. today, Barack Obama unveiled his plan to make the federal
government more transparent, including national broadband town hall meetings — he's calling them
"21st Century Fireside Chats" — that he says his Cabinet will hold with the American people."
                                  http://www.boston.com/news/politics/politicalintelligence/2007/09/obama_to_reigni.html

Those words all sound well and good, but surely he must not have a plan to achieve it, right?  It's
surely just campaign rhetoric, except he has a plan with phases and everything.

Barak Obama seems serious about changing the culture in Washington.  Many will naysay him, but
that's what conservatives do.  They naysay change before even considering change because they
conserve the status quo.  That's the definition of a conservative.  Conserve the essence of what is
currently taking place.

"WASHINGTON — What Democratic Sen. Barack Obama may lack in foreign-policy experience, he is trying to make up for in sheer numbers of advisers — enough, says one of the team, for "his own virtual State Department."
                                 http://online.wsj.com/article/SB118895877299317784.html?mod=googlenews_wsj

Barak lacks experience.  That is the great argument against Barak in the White House.  He lacks
experience and he'll never get anything done.  I say good.  I hope he gets nothing done, but I'd
like to see him change the conversation on the Hill.  I have heard very few interesting, positive
conversations taking place on the Hill in an awfully long time.  Barak seems to be willing to shake up the establishment and put some asses to work and I say good for him.
I support him from knee jerk because he's an intelligent black man that seems fully capable of
winning the presidency.  I support him for his apparent disparate, political personality and attitude from nearly everyone in the race.  I support him for the simple fact that he is the only breath of fresh air in the presidential race.
Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton apparently offers us a continuation of what happened in the Bill
Clinton years.  Don't get me wrong.  I liked Clinton better than I like Bush, but Hillary Clinton is

"WASHINGTON - Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's presidential campaign said Monday it will return
$850,000 in donations raised by Democratic fundraiser Norman Hsu, who is under federal investigation for allegedly violating election laws."
                                                   http://www.forbes.com/feeds/ap/2007/09/10/ap4102806.html

It's business as usual with Hillary in office because no matter what her opponents say about her- she
is a tried and true conservative and what she seeks to conserve will not prove useful to anyone I
know.

Our Nation is Now Dumber for This…Thank You for Your Participation!

It's been reported that Osama bin Laden is getting ready to debut a new video.  He's going to comment.  The Scotsman reports, "The al-Qaeda figurehead will address his message to the American people..."  http://news.scotsman.com/international.cfm?id=1429902007

After he's done commenting, he will address us and in this process we are to be worried.
'Oh no, watch out for Osama.'

If the U.S. military has any credibility- and I believe it does, I am a veteran- Osama's message
should be: "I'm cold and living in a cave although I have plenty of money.  I'm hungry.  Can somebody please deliver a hamburger?"

Who is this guy?

I almost wish we'd find him just so the media can stop trying to convince me that the devil lives incarnate on this Earth.  Osama is just a man and we won't negotiate with him, but we will build him up to being bigger than a man.  It makes no sense.

Get him in a room.
Get him on a satellite feed.
Talk to him.

He's got views as do we.  Find him by asking to talk with him.  What is the most that he can want?
Invaders out of his land?  You can not deny that if your feet touch foreign soil, you're either a
visitor or an invader (sorry illegal immigrants- I've got nothing against you personally.)

Osama's going to comment.

Will you live in terror?
