Random Pattern Weekly 3/4/2007:

1.   Taboo Plaza

Our world of ideas is being cheapened and I don’t think it’s a conspiracy.

Somehow, someway we’ve tainted everything important in life and now we simply drift on a seemingly endless wave of banality.  Some people think that the most important thing in life is to decode a human genome in an attempt to better understand human life.  Some people find their release ahead of them in heaven.  Some think that the liberation of women stands as the pinnacle achievement of our collective future.

Whether you’re: a sufferer of post-traumatic stress, gay, black, Chinese or elderly (which can all be great things to be) you’ve got an agenda that has been written and sits waiting for your signature and participation.

It’s cheap and not at all personal.  It’s just what’s been written and it’s there waiting for you.  All you’ve got to do is seize the reign and ride on the train of the most common complaint.

If you’re lucky!

Many of these agendas have been around so long that they’ve become tainted as organizations.  They’ve generally been bastardized from supporting the representative many to representing the ideas of a small collective within the framework of a larger body.  These minority groups within the majority aid in the cheapening of our lives and yet the majority continues to support the minority.  The majority takes part in the cheapening of their world.

You may ask what I mean.

What exactly am I talking about?

I’m talking about the institutions that we support currently working against us.  The Senate of the United States works exactly as it was designed.  It is a barrier to separate the common, ordinary people from gaining any power in the government of the United States of America.

James Madison states this in a fairly convoluted fashion in Federalist Paper 10- a document that helped form the Republic of the United States.

Now the Senate has become exactly what Madison feared.  It is nothing but factions.  Every session fights bitterly.  On the bright side they’re not getting much done.

Most ancient religions are the same.

The Catholic Church is historically so disreputable that nothing good can ever come from it again.  It is tainted and cheap because it has been around too long.  There are factions and interests represented within that care nothing for the condition of the many Catholics around the world.

We’ve been cheapened throughout our history and now we have a hard time remembering what is important.

And why!

What is important, besides the Nintendo 360 and the Mercedes Benz?

What is important?

Is it life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness?

Cheap, moneyed interest controls your destiny while you slowly die a little more each day.  Eventually, you’ll be gone and anything you thought about anything will probably leave with you.

What are you going to do?

Is it important?

We have the ingenuity and creativity to come up with better forms of government.  We too could hold a Constitutional Convention.  People could have a voice to suggest something new.  If it didn’t work out, we’ve still got what we’ve got.  Change can be made, but only after it has been discussed.

My vote is for something closer to democracy.  You leave the Senate the way that it is.  You leave the Presidency the way that it is.
You raffle off House seats once every year or two among the members of your citizenry.  You could make a requirement like you have to have a high school diploma.  Maybe then public education will improve.

2.     Current Affairs

That’s, uh, racist.

Barak Obama is gaining a lot of attention and that is good.  He’s talking about the right things: the history of our people, internal infrastructure and stopping the focus outside of our borders.  (Admittedly, I’ve skipped a couple steps in logic to arrive at my conclusion from such a short article; but, it is also an interesting effort to listen to what is not being said.)

Will Hillary Clinton offer anything different?

We know what the Republicans are going to offer.  Do you prefer your shit be served to you hot or cold?

Obama is talking about some very solid ideas.  Radical almost if you assume he will really focus on our country.

Hillary Clinton has an interesting advantage however.  If Bill Clinton begins following her around, then she has the default endorsement of a former president.  How do you buy that strategy?

Keep in mind though that Clinton was not a pacifist.  He did not focus on our country.  His focus was all over the world.

I think that Senator Obama would be a healing moment for the United States as president.  The question really is, can America accept a black man as a president?  If you doubt me, wonder to yourself why a story like this would ever come out.

When is the last time, slaveholding lineage came out for a presidential hopeful?

Is this supposed to be a bad thing for Obama?  I’m sure most of our presidents have had slave-owners somewhere in their genealogy if they weren’t slave owners themselves.

Could you imagine a black man representing America in much of the world today?

I believe an Iranian may be more responsive and open with a black American than a white American.  Obama really could be the answer as long as he’s not corrupted, and then you’ve got Hillary Clinton as the other option.

President Bush is trying anything at this point to go out with a quiet bang.

“Heh, heh, how’s the historians gonna write about me?”

Dirty old pervert.

He’s stopping for photos with the down-trodden granting federal disaster blessings like money doesn’t mean anything to him at all.  A little for Afghanistan, a bit more for Iraq and let’s cut back Social Security since we’ve spent all the money.

“Heh, heh what’s it to me if I can get a legacy out of photo ops.”

It’s tough to find any photos other than him hanging out with young Hispanic girls.  Here’s another one of him copping a feel.  No black people in that one.

Nothing here.

Nor here.

I can’t find pictures of Waldo anywhere in Alabama.

3.     Then Humans Discovered… (The Descendant’s of Harn)

Continued from February 25th post.

Harn changed The Rule within The Group.

Before Harn, The Group only knew The Rule of blunt strike.  The most powerful controlled the others.  Only one time the ruler did not hit the hardest, but then he was the fastest.  That was only an exception though.  The Rule maintained that the strongest and most willing to kill got the best choices before any other within The Group.

The Group lived together because living alone meant being prey for the panthers and apes.

After Harn, the Rule changed.

A new kind of persuasion began to shine darkly.  Harn brought about The Fear.  Harn discovered The One. The Fear followed The One.  With the coming of The Fear an anxiety descended upon The Group.  Harn apparently had the answers.

Looking up at the Sun and cowering became sadness in a prostrate position.  From death buried in vegetation a ritualistic return to the womb followed burying their dead deep in the ground.

Even the strongest feared Harn’s future.

Fear was all around.

The Rule of Harn lived on past him through the lineage of his sons.

5.     Our Nation is Now Dumber for This…Thank You for Your Participation!

Ann Coulter you ignorant slut, when will you move out of high school?

I mean a faggot?

Are you really sure that was what you wanted to go with?

Faggot is what the English call a cigarette.  If you want to hang out with cool white trash kids you call other kids ‘fags’ or ‘homos.’

The Republicans want to garner just enough support in the 2008 presidential election to not be completely embarrassed.  You’re really not helping your party.

Next time why not just go with “poopy head?”

You’ll take less heat and it’ll have the same impact.

6.     Down On Rage Street

7.     My Butthole Bleeds for You…Really….It Does

And the beat goes on…with the random pattern.

8.     Tip of the week

Spend some time with the people in your life that are important to you.  If you let it, life will become a buzzing in your head.  Wake up, go to work, come home, eat, watch TV and then go to bed.  Rinse and repeat until you get to Saturday and Sunday.  Then spend some time trying to squeeze your life into 2 days.

The buzz will take over and before you know it you will be 50 years old with no idea where all of your time went.

Spend time in the moment.  Recognize the moment for whatever it is, even if it is boring.  Recognize it and then concentrate on it a little longer.

Then find someone you like with whom to do this again.

9.     Birthday Shout Outs (2-25 to 3-3)

·        (2/25/1841) Pierre Renoir- People still talk about his paintings.

·        (2/25/1901) Zeppo Marx- The quietly celebrated Marx brother.

·        (2/25/1913) Jim Backus- Mr. Magoo and Thurston Howell III in one lifetime is a greater accomplishment than most people will ever make.

·        (2/25/1917) Anthony Burgess- This guy was responsible for A Clockwork Orange.  It makes the malenky little hairs on the back of my neck stand up just thinking about what the world would be like without that book.  And just to think, Alex was only 13 years old.

·        (2/25/1943) George Harrison- He was a Beatle and nothing you could ever do would stack up to that.  Cure cancer and see how well you stack up against the Beatles.  I dare you.

·        (2/25/1949) Ric Flair- To be the man you gotta beat the man.

·        (2/26/1916) Jackie Gleason- One of the funniest men to ever walk this planet, although there were a couple of episodes I was sure he was going to smack her.

·        (2/26/1920) Tony Randall- He seemed so proper, but then to see him on Letterman gives an entirely different perspective.

·        (2/26/1932) Johnny Cash- This is quite possibly one of the saddest songs I’ve ever heard.

·        (2/26/1972) Erykah Badu- She’s got soul and great taste in bands.

·        (2/27/1902) John Steinbeck- As far as I’m concerned, one of the greatest writers to ever walk the Earth.  If you haven’t read them I suggest one of two choices: (for those that like to read) East of Eden and (for those who don’t like to read a lot) The Pearl.

·        (2/27/1940) Howard Hesseman- Dr. Johnny Fever.  He didn’t have to do anything other than that to make this list.

·        (2/27/1955) Neal Schon- He played guitar for Journey.  It’s not the Beatles but on par with the Stones wearing a mullet.

·        (2/27/1959) Johnny Van Zant- He’s keeping up a great legacy singing for Lynyrd Skynyrd in his older brother’s absence.

·        (2/28/1942) Brian Jones- He was a founding member of the Rolling Stones.

·        (2/28/1948) Bernadette Peters- She was in the Jerk and she’s not hard to look at.

·        (2/28/1953) Ricky Steamboat- The greatest armdrag in the history of the game and from all accounts possibly one of the most stable men to ever earn a living in wrestling.

·        (2/28/1955) Gilbert Gottfried- This guy has almost no business having a successful career and that is what makes him great.

·        (3/1/1841) Blanche Bruce- Born in slavery and ascended to the United States Senate in 1875.  He made one of the biggest leaps in social class in American History.

·        (3/1/1914) Harry Caray- If it weren’t for Harry Caray, we never would’ve had Will Ferrell doing impersonations of Harry Caray.

·        (3/1/1914) Ralph Ellison- The Invisible Man will give you a completely different picture of what it means to be black in America.  Long live the memory of Ralph Ellison.

·        (3/1/1944) Roger Daltry- The front man for the Who.

·        (3/1/1954) Catherine Bach- She’s one of the hottest women to ever make it on T.V.  And the name of Daisy Duke still reverberates in ghetto communities across America.

·        (3/1/1954) Ron Howard- From Opie to Richie to director and still movies under his belt that are classics (Night Shift, American Graffiti, & a Twilight Zone.)  Arrested Development was also great television.

·        (3/1/1965) Booker T- Merely a shadow of himself today.  I’ll never forget Booker T as being part of a team of the scariest black guys in wrestling.

·        (3/2/1904) Dr. Seuss- I do like green eggs and ham.  I really do like them Sam I Am.

·        (3/2/1917) Desi Arnaz- Lucy I’m home.

·        (3/2/1956) Mark Evans- Any member of AC/DC makes this list and this guy played bass for them on three albums.

·        (3/2/1962) Jon Bon Jovi- A bit fluffy a bit too many ballads, but still a solid act.

·         (3/3/1847) Alexander Graham Bell- This guy accomplished quite a bit in his lifetime and he’s still not as cool as the Beatles.

·        (3/3/1959) Ira Glass- To take a radio concept to television after the 1950’s is quite an accomplishment.

·        (3/3/1966) Tone-Loc- A very distinctive voice and still fresh distinctive beats in Wild Thing and Funky Cold Medina.
